Fiumicino airport

(Leonardo da Vinci)

Rome's main airport is well connected to the center during the day by a direct train and slower trains.

The direct train between Fiumicino and Termini costs £ 16.000 ( euro 8,26 ) and takes approximately 30 minutes. It leaves from and arrives at track 22 at Termini ( the main train station).

Tickets can be purchased:

A) at vending machines at both Termini and Fiumicino

B) at the Alitalia office near track 22 at Termini ( 6.30am / 9pm )

C) at the ticket window by the platform at Fiumicino

The following schedule is applicable from May 30 through September 25; the winter schedule may very by a few minutes.

Fiumicino - Roma:

7.37am - 8.07am - 9.07am - 10.07am - 11.07am - 12.07pm - 1.07pm - 2.07pm - 3.07pm - 4.07pm - 4.37pm - 5.07pm - 6.07pm - 6.37pm - 7.07pm - 8.07pm - 8.37pm - 9.07pm - 10.07pm.

Roma - Fiumicino:

6.50am - 7.20am - 8.20am - 9.20am - 10.20am - 11.20am - 12.20pm - 1.20pm - 2.20pm - 3.20pm - 3.50pm - 4.20pm - 5.20pm - 5.50pm - 6.20pm - 7.20pm - 7.50pm - 8.20pm - 9.20pm.

Ciampino airport

A smaller airport dealing mainly with charter flights and budget airlines.

It is connected to Line A metro station: Anagnina ( about 30 minutes by metro from Termini ) by Cotral bus; cost £2000 (euro 1,03).
Buses leave every half hour.

By air - Nighttime

Fiumicino airport (Leonardo da Vinci):
For arrivals and departures between 11.30pm and 5am, there is a night bus running between Fiumicino and Tiburtina Station. It stops at Termini Station.
From Fiumicino: 1.15am - 2.15am - 3.30am - 5am
From Tiburtina: 0.30am - 1.15am - 2.30am - 3.45am

The 40N bus connects Tiburtina and Termini during the night.

Ciampino airport:
Buses connecting Ciampino airport with the center of Rome stop running at 11pm, so the only way to get into town late at night is by taxi.

Taxi:

The average fare for a taxi ride from Fiumicino airport ( or Ciampino ) to the center is £ 80.000 ( euro 41,3 ) during the day, more expensive at night.

After having exited the arrival hall at Fiumicino, you will find the taxi rank.
